Privacy Policy

DriveMate ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it. By using DriveMate, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Vehicle data: Licence plate numbers you enter to run compliance checks.

Account information: Your email address when you create an account or sign in.

Contact details: Your WhatsApp phone number when you set expiry reminders or complete a renewal, used solely for verification and notifications.

Payment information: Payment is processed by Paystack. We store only your payment reference and order details — we never see or store your card or bank details.

Delivery information: If you request Lagos delivery, we collect the recipient name, delivery address, and phone number you provide.

Usage data: Standard server logs including IP addresses, browser type, and pages visited, used for security and performance monitoring.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Query official Nigerian government sources (NIID, DVIS, AutoReg, PayVIS) to retrieve compliance data for your vehicle.
  • Process document renewal orders and payments through Paystack.
  • Send expiry reminder notifications via WhatsApp and email.
  • Send OTP verification codes to authenticate your identity before renewals.
  • Fulfil document delivery requests in Lagos.
  • Provide customer support when you contact us.
  • Improve our platform and fix technical issues.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

3. Third-Party Services

DriveMate uses the following third-party services to operate:

  • Supabase — authentication and database hosting. Your account data is stored on Supabase infrastructure.
  • Paystack — payment processing. Card and bank details are handled exclusively by Paystack and are subject to their privacy policy.
  • Meta (WhatsApp Business API) — OTP delivery and reminder notifications sent to your WhatsApp number.
  • Resend — transactional email delivery for verification codes and receipts.
  • Vercel — application hosting and serverless infrastructure.

Each provider has its own privacy policy governing their use of your data.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account and vehicle data for as long as your account is active. OTP codes are deleted immediately after use or expiry. Payment records are retained for as long as required to fulfil our legal and tax obligations.

You may request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing support@drivemate.ng.

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), secure authentication via Supabase, and access controls that limit who can view your data. No system is completely secure — if you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your account and data.
  • Withdraw consent for notifications at any time.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of DriveMate after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
